FORMS OF ATTACK
SHOMENUCHI: Downward strike to the head
YOKOMENUCHI: Strike to the side of the head
MUNETSUKI: Thrusting attack to the chest
MAEGERI: Front snapping kick
KATATETORI AI HANMI: Cross hand wrist grab
KATATETORI GAKYU HANMI: Same side hand wrist grab
KATATORI: Lapel grab
KATATORI MENUCHI: Grasping lapel and attack Shomenuchi or Yokomenuchi
KATATORI GA MENUCHI: Grasping lapel and punching to the face
RYOTETORI: Grasping both wrists
RYOKATATORI: Grasping both lapels
MOROTETORI: Grasping a forearm with two hands
USHIRO TEKUBITORI: Wrists grabbed from behind
USHIROKATATORI: Grasping both shoulders from behind
USHIROTORI: Grasping from behind (bear hug)
USHIROHIJITORI: Grasping elbows from behind
USHIRO KATATETORI KUBI SHIME: Grasping a wrist from behind and choking
JIYU WAZA: Free technique
RANDORI: Seizing chaos. Defense against multiple attackers
TANTODORI: Defense against knife attacks
BOKKENDORI: Defense against bokken attacks
JODORI: Defense against jo attack
POSITIONS
TACHI WAZA: Both nage and uke in standing position ( hanmi )
SUWARI WAZA: Both nage and uke in seated position ( seiza )
HANMI HANTACHI WAZA: Nage in seated position ( seiza ) against a standing attacker
BASIC TECHNIQUES
All techniques should be performed Omote waza and Ura waza.
Dynamic, static variations you must know
IKKYO: First teaching and pin.
NIKKYO: Second teaching and pin.
SANKYO: Third teaching, nage waza ( throwing ) and osae waza ( pin ).
YONKYO: Fourth teaching and pin.
GOKYO: Fifth teaching and pin.
IRIMINAGE: Entering throw leading the balance and stepping through
KOTEGAESHI: Wrist turning throw and pin
SHIHONAGE: Four directions throw
KOKYUNAGE: Timing throw
KAITENAGE: Rotary throw. Uchi ( internal ), soto ( externa l), Omote, ura variations.
SHOKUMEN IRIMINAGE: Entering in the side of the face and throw
TENCHINAGE: Heaven and earth throw. Omote, ura variations
SUMIOTOSHI: Corner drop throw
JUJINAGE: Blending the arms in the shape of the Japanese number 10 ( shape of a cross )  and throwing
KOSHINAGE: Hip throw
SUDORI: Disappearing throw
 
PROMOTION TEST REQUIREMENTS – KYU RANKS  - 7TH KYU
 
Minimum 2 months and 20 days of training
Successful completion of seminars and courses will also be taken into consideration.
KI TESTS AND EXERCISES:
SEIZA: Sitting Japanese style with legs folded underneath
SHIZENTAI: Natural stance with feet shoulder width
ORENAITE: Unbendable arm, tested while in hanmi stance
BASIC TAISABAKI: Hidari/Migi Hanmi, Tsuki-Ashi, Ayumi-Ashi, Tenkan, Irimi Tenkan
KOHO TENDO UNDO: Rolling back and forward from sitting, kneeling and standing position
MAE UKEMI SUWARI WAZA: Rolling tumbling forward from kneeling position
USHIRO UKEMI SUWARI WAZA: Rolling tumbling backward from kneeling position
RYOTETORI KOKYUHO SUWARIWAZA ( KOKYUDOSA ): Exercise to develop timing and breath power, partner practice in seiza position
TECHNIQUES:   ( TACHIWAZA )

PROMOTION TEST REQUIREMENTS – KYU RANKS - 6TH KYU
 
Minimum of 3 months and 30 days of training after earning 7th Kyu.
Successful completion of seminars and courses will also be taken into consideration.
Be prepared to demonstrate exercises and techniques from all ranks prior to the one for which you are actually testing.
KI TESTS AND EXERCISES:
MAE UKEMI TACHI WAZA: Rolling tumbling forward completely from standing position
USHIRO UKEMI TACHI WAZA: Rolling tumbling backward completely from standing position
SHOMENUCHI, YOKOMENUCHI, MUNETSUKI: demonstration of basic strikes
FUNAGOKI UNDO: Rowing exercise
SHOMENUCHI IKKYO UNDO: Raising and lowering the arms as if cutting with a sword
GAKYU HANMI TAISABAKI: Tenkan, Irimi, ( also with partner )
KOKYUDOSA RENZOKU: Continuously one side to another without pause
TECHNIQUES:   ( TACHIWAZA )

Minimum of 3 months and 40 days of training after earning 6th Kyu.

GAKYU HANMI TAISABAKI: Uchi Kaiten, Soto Kaiten, with partner
MOROTETORI KOKYUHO ( TACHIWAZA ): Exercise to develop timing and breathe power, partner practice, standing position

Ushiro TEKUBItori undo: Grasped from behind exercise
Happo undo: Raising and lowering the arms as if cutting with a sword in the 8 basic directions
