YONDAN Minimum 42 months and 480 days of training
Successful completion of 2 seminars per year
after Sandan
Written essay required: “Application of Aikido”

Technique: Kihon Waza “Basic Technique”: free demonstrations.
Henka Waza “Changing technique”: free demonstrations.
Oyo Waza “Applied or Advanced technique”: free
demonstration.
Instructional Methodology: free demonstration of how to instruct Kihon waza and Oyo waza.
Kumijo Staff versus staff forms (5).
Kumitachi Sword versus sword forms (6).
Jyu Waza (Randori) Defense against multiple attackers (6).

Permission to test must be obtained from the Shidoin and approved by the HAA Shihanat least 6 months before the examination date.

Be sure you have the required number of days before applying for an examination.
- Application forms and essays should be completed at least 1 week before the examination.
- Successful completion of seminars and courses will be taken into consideration.
- Minimum age for Shodan is 15 years, Yondan is 22 years.

Dan examinations are usually taken at the spring and autumn HAA International Seminars unless otherwise specified.
